A Princeton man was charged with five felony counts for possessing and disseminating child sexual abuse images, Illinois State Police said Tuesday.
Dawson R. Michael, 23, is charged with three counts of dissemination child sexual abuse images, which are a Class X felonies, and two counts of possession of child sexual abuse images, which are Class 2 felonies.
If convicted of the charges of disseminating child sexual abuse images, Michael could face from six to 30 years in prison. If convicted of the charges of possession of child sexual abuse images, Michael could face from three to seven years in prison.
On Oct. 24, state police agents executed a search warrant at a residence in the 600 block of Hidden Lake Drive in Princeton and seized suspected evidence.
On Jan. 25, the Bureau County State’s Attorney approved the above charges against Michael and an arrest warrant was signed. Michael was taken into custody Monday and taken to the Bureau County Jail.

Princeton swore in its newest police sergeant Tuesday.
After an introduction, Jake Foster took the oath of office from Police Chief Tom Kammerer during the Princeton City Council meeting.
Foster graduated from Bureau Valley High School in 2006 and from Sauk Valley Community College in 2008 with an associate’s degree in criminal justice/law enforcement. Foster has been a certified law enforcement officer since 2010, beginning part-time in Buda, Bradford and Walnut police departments, before he was hired full-time in 2012 by Princeton’s department.
He’s been an operator in the Illinois Valley Special Response Team and a member of the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team since 2015. He’s certified by the police training institute in arrest and control tactics, a defensive tactics instructor, a pressure point control tactics instructor; a third degree black belt in Isshinryu karate and a one-strike blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Kammerer said Foster’s mother, father and sister were in attendance Tuesday.
Kammerer will fill the role of Dan Jaeger’s sergeant position.

The Prairie Arts Center Gallery in Princeton will host three Art Lessons with Melody Best in the next month.
The first is scheduled from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, on Book Binding – No Stitch Journals. all materials will be provided to create two books. The cost is $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers. All materials will be provided. Suggested materials to bring include a metal ruler, scissors, a cutting mat or a scoring board.
Other classes are Cold Wax and Oil Painting from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13, and Watercolor Floral Greeting Cards from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, at the gallery, 24 Park Ave. E.

Doctors of Physical Therapy Princeton has announced two new staff members, including new clinic director Dennis Nink, PT.
Nink brings more than 40 years of clinical experience in outpatient, hospital and home health settings. In addition to general physical therapy, his specialties include orthopedics, industrial and sports rehab, neck and TMJ disorder. As a lifelong Princeton resident, Nink looks forward to providing the community with compassionate, evidence-based clinical care.

Born and raised in Princeton, Grieff recently received her doctorate in physical therapy from St. Ambrose University and holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. She loves working with her patients and physicians to develop a plan of treatment that addresses each individual’s needs.

This year’s 53rd annual Homestead Festival held Sept. 5-8 in Princeton is set to bring nostalgia and fond memories.
The Homestead Festival Steering Committee: Eric and Dena May of Princeton will serve as the lead couple along with Chantha and Susan Chhim (Sheffield), Tina and Derick Klingenberg (Princeton), and Tyler and Jeanine Thompson (Princeton).
This year’s theme is “Back to our Roots” is a tribute to the area’s rich history and community values. The theme was unveiled at the annual Princeton Area Chamber of Commerce dinner at The Barn at Hornbaker Gardens. May also shared the updated logo and branding, which features Bureau County’s outline with Princeton, highlighted by a prominent star.
