PRINCETON, Ind. (WEHT) —  Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) is celebrating its 30 millionth U.S.–assembled vehicle, 2021 Toyota Sienna minivan, off the line at the Princeton manufacturing plant.
“Being responsible for Toyota’s 30-millionth U.S.–assembled vehicle is a huge point of pride for all of us at Toyota Indiana,” said Leah Curry, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana president. “Together with our supplier partners, we build vehicles with our customers in mind. We’ve worked hard to give them an all-new Sienna that’s ready for any of life’s adventures.”
Toyota began U.S. production in 1986 and now has 10 plants in the U.S.

NEW HARMONY, Ind. (WEHT) — Just before 11 A.M. Sunday, Posey County Sheriff’s Office Deputies say they were notified that someone had located a vehicle in the water just off the River-Walk in New Harmony.
Officials say multiple agencies were called, including dive teams. A dead body was discovered inside the vehicle by the dive teams, police tell us.
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (FOX56/WKYT) – Thousands of families were without power Saturday night in Bowling Green, one day after the community was hit by a devastating tornado.
Huge trees were uprooted and homes were damaged by the storm. Harrison Alford said what started as a typical Friday night, gave way to a terrifying morning.
(WEHT) — Teladoc Health announced they’ll be providing free, 24/7 general medical services to residents, first responders and others directly impacted by this weekend’s outbreak of tornadoes in Kentucky.
A spokesperson with the company says individuals displaced by the storms can seek treatment from a licensed health care professional for any non-emergency illness online or by calling them directly. They add that mental health services are also available.

PRINCETON – A variety of sales, shows and swap meets are scheduled for every weekend in November at Bureau County Fairgrounds in Princeton.
The Huge Winter Garage Sale returns on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 8 a.m. Admission if free but shoppers are asked to please bring a donation of canned or non-perishable food for the local food pantry.
Walneck’s Motorcycle Swap meet returns on Sunday, Nov. 14 with all kinds of motorcycle parts and accessories for sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The annual meeting of the Life Members of Bureau County Fair will be held on Monday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m.
The following weekend will be the 13th annual Model Train Fair and Farm Toy Show on Saturday, Nov. 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All three exhibit halls will be full of farm toys of all types, die cast cars and collectibles, model railroad engines, cars and accessories, and memorabilia. There will be three large working train layouts for kids of all ages to enjoy. Admission is $4 for adults. Kids 10 and under are free.
The Sauk Trail Gun Collectors show will finish out the month with their show on Nov. 27-28.
December
In December, a fun event for kids will take place at the Fairgrounds following the Christmas parade. Bring them out for games and treats at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec 4. That night, the “Home for the Holidays” lighted drive-through display opens at 5 p.m. The drive-through will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights through New Years.
The Home for the Holidays Christmas Craft and Vendor Show will take place on Saturday, Dec. 11 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the heated exhibit halls. Selling spaces are being reserved now.

(WSIL) — Several schools in southern Illinois may have an exposure to COVID-19.
On Friday, the Illinois Department of Public Health updated its list of schools with potential COVID-19 exposures. The data represents information collected through contact tracing.
Location information is gathered by asking cases to recall locations visited in the 14 days preceding symptom onset or specimen collection if symptoms are not present. 
School data show the number of confirmed and probable cases who listed a school as a place visited, but that does not mean it is where they were infected. Only schools where names have been provided are included. 
Data includes information elicited from cases opened within the previous 30 days from date of update. 
According to Friday’s numbers, 1,472 have potential COVID-19 exposures from contact tracing. In southern Illinois, that includes 13 different schools.
Here is a list of schools in our region with COVID-19 exposures:

The number of schools which have reported an outbreak has also increased from two weeks ago. On Friday, Sept. 3, IDPH reported 81 schools across the state had reported an outbreak of COVID-19. As of Friday, Sept. 10, IDPH reported 128 schools have an outbreak of COVID-19.
The outbreaks include those that have been identified by the school’s local health department to have at least two COVID-19 cases among people who may have a shared exposure on school grounds and come from different households.

PRINCETON, Ill. — The Bureau County Sheriff’s Department is finally getting a new law enforcement center in Princeton, Illinois as their current jail is inadequate.
Sheriff Jim Reed says the county jail is outdated. How to pay for upgrades has been at the center of debate for nearly a decades. Sheriff Reed and his staff got together with county board members to come up with a plan to fund the new law enforcement center.
He says the working conditions for his deputies and the safety for both them and the inmates were determining factors in getting a new center built.
“We had a variety of problems,” Sheriff Jim Reed said. “We did have problems with the plumbing. Of course inmates were flushing things down and the sewer was backing up and several times we had investigators and officers who basically had raw sewage on their desk and filing cabinets in the basement.”
In addition, County board member, Keith Cain, adds that the county simply out grew the current jail.
“Well, as we all know crime has changed,” Keith Cain said. “You have as many females as you do as males. You have to keep everybody separated now as far as the two different sexes plus the up keep of the old jail was just getting too expensive so we decided we would have to get into this.”
The Board Chair, Marshann Entwhistle says she believes there were issues with the current jail when it was first built many years ago.
“Since I’ve been on the board it’s been an ongoing problem,” Entwhistle said. “It’s been deficiencies in that jail i think since day once since it was built.”
Marshann Entwhistle says they’ve tried to do something over the last decade but finding the money to fund a new law enforcement center was hard.
“It made it difficult because we just didn’t know how we were going to finance the project (and) where were we going to put the project,” Entwhistle, said. “We looked at doing containers where we could bring in containers and set them in place Where were we going to do it? Did we want to keep it close to the court house, yes we did but that presented some problems there.”
Finally they found a location near the interstate which once housed the local paper and the location was perfect for the department’s needs.
“There’s a lot of real estate out there that we can work with,” Sheriff Jim Reed said. “The thing about this plan is that is perfect for we need and it’ll be there for some years to come if we need to add on.”
The county is expecting to break ground early next month, weather permitting.

MARION, ILLINOIS (WSIL) — We’re working to learn more about a car crash Sunday evening near the intersection of Williamson County Parkway and 17th street.
Authorities say its the result of a police chase that eventually ended in Marion.
News 3 captured a photo of a silver sedan with damage to its front hood.
Police were questioning a person in handcuffs, while at least three people were taken away by ambulance.
Multiple law enforcement agencies including Illinois State Police, Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Marion, Energy, and Johnston City had officers on scene.
Several fire crews and ambulances were also there to help.
The scene was cleared around 6:30 p.m.

WINTER storm Atticus has struck Arkansas and Missouri and caused a state of emergency to be declared in Kentucky on Friday night.
The area has seen severe damage as Atticus moves from the Rockies to Midwest as Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio and Illinois are impacted with wild weather.
Local ABC affiliate KAIT reported that two people were killed and five others hurt in a "mass casualty" event at Monette Manor nursing home after a tornado pummeled the area in Arkansas.
About 20 people were trapped at the facility, which has 90 beds, according to the news station, as shocking pictures showed debris covering the parking lot, with major damage to the building.
It comes as a storm warning is in effect until Saturday morning with more than 11million Americans bracing for frigid weather alerts nationwide.
Atticus, the first winter storm named this season, has spread heavy snow across Salt Lake City, northern Colorado, eastern Wyoming, southern South Dakota, northwest Nebraska and is now headed into the Plains and Upper Midwest.
Additionally, the storm could produce destructive winds in parts of the Great Lakes, according to The Weather Channel.

The "long-track" tornado reportedly touched down, and caused damage, in five states: Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Tennessee and Kentucky.

The tornado started in Arkansas on Friday night at about 9pm EST and was in Kentucky by midnight EST.

'Possible deaths' at warehouse
Sources told the reporter there are "injuries and possible deaths" inside the warehouse.
Tornado and severe weather warnings remain in effect with people in the region urged to seek shelter.
The emergency warnings come as a major storm moves from the Rockies to the East Coast.
'A third' of warehouse collapsed
A reporter said "several dozen emergency crews" were on scene at the Amazon Warehouse on Gateway Commerce Center Drive in Illinois.
Approximately "a third of the warehouse is torn down and damaged from either straight by line winds or tornado," KMOV's Jenna Rae wrote in a tweet.
She also noted that some people might be trapped, but it wasn't revealed if there were any deaths.

A tornado watch was issued for five states as a tornado hit the area on Friday night.

Local ABC affiliate KAIT said two people were killed and five others hurt in a “mass casualty” event at Monette Manor nursing home after the tornado moved through the Mississippi County area.
About 20 people were initially trapped at the facility, which has 90 beds, according to the news station.
Debris covered the parking lot, with major damage visible to the building and its roof.

KOMONews Seattle reported that the Amazon warehouse partially collapsed after a tornado struck in Arkansas.
"Multiple first responders and crews now on scene in Edwardsville, Illinois, where workers are trapped, some feared dead," KOMONews' Preston Phillips tweeted.

The emergency warnings come as a major storm moves from the Rockies to the East Coast.

Governor's statement
Buildings in the region were said to be "leveled" as Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson said on Twitter that a tornado touched down in the northeast portion of the state.
The reports from Emergency Management are that a tornado has struck in Mississippi County. First responders are on the scene.

CHICAGO – July 26, 2021 – This fall, WGN-TV will be launching an hour-long lifestyle show “Daytime Chicago” in the 10am slot; “Rachel Ray” will be moving to later in the afternoon. Co-hosts Tonya Francisco and Amy Rutledge will be hosting the weekday lifestyle and entertainment show, which will cover various topics specific to Chicagoans, with features on health, décor, cooking, travel and more. The show will debut this September.
“We are very excited to launch more local programming for our viewers. With “Daytime Chicago” five-days-a-week, WGN-TV will soon be airing 81 hours of weekly live local programming,” commented Paul Rennie, WGN-TV VP/General Manager. “Tonya and Amy are Chicago’s Very Own seasoned veterans who know our market inside and out; they will be a fantastic duo.”

Tonya Francisco, an award-winning journalist, joined WGN News in 2012 and currently anchors WGN Weekend Morning News. Prior to that, Tonya was a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor for WGN-TV. She joined CLTV in 2002 and was soon after named morning anchor. Tonya is proud alumna of Whitney Young Magnet High School and a graduate of the University of Illinois Chicago. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the National Association of Black Journalists.

Amy Rutledge, an award-winning journalist, spent many years as a reporter at WGN-TV, starting in 2005. She took a brief break from Chicago and moved to Shanghai, China, where she helped launch Shanghai’s first and only English-speaking newscast. In April 2010, she came back to Chicago and WGN-TV. Most recently, she was a co-host of “The Jam,” a morning entertainment show on WCIU. Amy is a graduate of Southern Illinois University, Carbondale with a B.A. in Mass Communications/Media Arts. She also studied meteorology at Mississippi State University. She was born and raised in Schaumburg, Illinois and is a graduate of Schaumburg High School.

MONETTE, Ark. — Two people were killed and at least five hurt after a nursing home was destroyed Friday night during a tornado event in Monette, Arkansas, according to information from local officials.
Twenty or more people were trapped inside the nursing home when the damage occurred, a Craighead County judge said. Survivors are being taken to a nearby church to be reunited with family members.
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — Multiple workers are trapped at an Amazon warehouse in Edwardsville, Illinois, following a massive structural collapse Friday night, according to authorities. There are reports that there could be 50-100 people inside the building.

There's more coming too. Jamie Volkert, the Director of Marketing for Palmer Square Management told Town Topics, “We have several other signed leases that I still cannot discuss, but I can tell you that there will be quite a few more announcements in the very near future.” How exciting. I'm anxious to see what else is coming to town.
