A “Night of Hope and Unity” is being organized in honor of Charlie Kirk’s birthday Tuesday, Oct. 14, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Veteran’s Park across from Princeton City Hall.
Organizers invite the public “to stand for peace for our nation and come together to stand for faith, unity and hope” in honor of the slain conservative activist.
Attendees are encouraged to wear red shirts to show solidarity and bring a sign with a message of love, hope or prayer and a U.S. flag.

Central Bank of Princeton donates $10,000 to Second Story Teen Center – Shaw Local

President Rick Clary of Central Bank of Princeton announced a donation of $10,000 to the Second Story Teen Center’s new building project.
This contribution reflects Central Bank’s commitment to uplifting the communities it serves, embodying the essence of community banking by fostering growth, development and an enhanced quality of life, the bank said in a news release.
“At Central Bank, we recognize the importance of giving back to our communities,” Clary said in a news release. “Supporting initiatives like the Second Story Teen Center aligns with our mission to contribute positively to the well-being of those we serve.”
Central Bank expressed its gratitude to the Second Story Teen Center for its contributions to the youth of Bureau County, and reaffirms its commitment to continuing support for initiatives that make a tangible difference in the lives of the communities.
The Teen Center has been opened since 2009 and located above Johnson Carpet. Plans have been moving forward to build a 6,000 square foot building located at 125 S. Main St., Princeton.
The mission of the teen center is to offer the young people of Bureau County, sixth through 12th grades a sense of purpose and acceptance by providing an inclusive social atmosphere of companionship and encouraging conversation. The teen center strives to cultivate and nurture the full potential of younger generations through education, mentorship and support.

Motorcyclist dies in single-vehicle crash on Route 6 in Bureau County – Shaw Local

A motorcyclist died after a single-vehicle crash on Route 6 east of the Interstate 180 overpass Thursday night, according to a news release from the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office responded at 11:38 p.m. Oct. 2 to the crash involving a 2011 Harley-Davidson traveling west, Sheriff James Reed said in the release. The motorcycle left the road, causing the rider to lose control and be ejected from the bike.
The rider was taken from the scene and later pronounced dead at OSF St. Clare Hospital in Princeton by Bureau County Coroner Kurt Workman. The coroner’s office is withholding the rider’s name pending family notification.
Agencies responding to the crash included the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office, the Bureau County Coroner’s Office, the Princeton Fire Department, Princeton emergency medical services, the Princeton Police Department, the DePue Police Department and Senica Towing.

The Bureau County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with Law Enforcement Partners of Bowling Green, Kentucky, to produce a 2026 department calendar.
Representatives will contact local businesses to seek sponsorships for advertising space on the calendars. Officials stress this is not a scam and the project supports drug prevention and awareness.
