The Prairie Arts Center Gallery in Princeton will host three Art Lessons with Melody Best in the next month.
The first is scheduled from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, on Book Binding – No Stitch Journals. all materials will be provided to create two books. The cost is $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers. All materials will be provided. Suggested materials to bring include a metal ruler, scissors, a cutting mat or a scoring board.
Other classes are Cold Wax and Oil Painting from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13, and Watercolor Floral Greeting Cards from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, at the gallery, 24 Park Ave. E.

Doctors of Physical Therapy Princeton has announced two new staff members, including new clinic director Dennis Nink, PT.
Nink brings more than 40 years of clinical experience in outpatient, hospital and home health settings. In addition to general physical therapy, his specialties include orthopedics, industrial and sports rehab, neck and TMJ disorder. As a lifelong Princeton resident, Nink looks forward to providing the community with compassionate, evidence-based clinical care.

Sara Grieff, DPT, also joins the clinical staff. Born and raised in Princeton, Grieff recently received her doctorate in physical therapy from St. Ambrose University and holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. She loves working with her patients and physicians to develop a plan of treatment that addresses each individual’s needs.

This year’s 53rd annual Homestead Festival held Sept. 5-8 in Princeton is set to bring nostalgia and fond memories.
The Homestead Festival Steering Committee: Eric and Dena May of Princeton will serve as the lead couple along with Chantha and Susan Chhim (Sheffield), Tina and Derick Klingenberg (Princeton), and Tyler and Jeanine Thompson (Princeton).
This year’s theme is “Back to our Roots” is a tribute to the area’s rich history and community values. The theme was unveiled at the annual Princeton Area Chamber of Commerce dinner at The Barn at Hornbaker Gardens. May also shared the updated logo and branding, which features Bureau County’s outline with Princeton, highlighted by a prominent star.

The Down on Main Summer Street Concerts series kicks off Friday in downtown Princeton.
Barracuda, a Heart tribute band, will perform beginning at 6 p.m. on South Main Street between Peru and Marion streets. Food and other activities will begin at 5 p.m.
City Manager Theresa Wittenauer said Monday the Down on Main series will have a number of guest vocalists perform “The Star Spangled Banner” throughout the series.
In addition to live performances, the concert series will feature local food and drink vendors. Attendees are asked to leave their dogs at home, because of safety precautions.

A Princeton man could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted of a Wednesday narcotics seizure.
Jason A. Byrd was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a Class 1 felony carrying four to 15 years in prison.
The Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team said in a news release Friday that agents, assisted by Princeton police and the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant of Byrd’s residence at 805 N. Main St. and seized about 7 grams of purported heroin and about 3 grams of purported cocaine along with items associated with the packaging and sale of narcotics.
Byrd was released with a notice to appear in Bureau County Circuit Court.

Tiny Tigers Preschool is accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year.
Tiny Tigers will be beginning its 34th year. The preschool program is a component of the Child Care Occupations class at Princeton High School. Students enrolled in this course are juniors and seniors who enjoy working with young children and are considering a child-related career.
The preschool program is a learning lab designed to provide hands-on experiences for high school students and developmentally appropriate activities for preschoolers. Early childhood activities are studied, planned, and taught by high school students under the supervision and direction of their high school instructor, Jennifer Wagner.     
Tiny Tigers sessions begin early November and continue through mid-May. Sessions meet from 8:05 aa.m. to 10:35 a.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Children may attend a combination of sessions that fit their schedule. The cost is $2 per day.     
Applications are taken throughout the school year, after a child celebrates a third birthday until he/she enters kindergarten. Tiny Tigers Preschool follows the same schedule as Princeton High School for vacations and holidays. The Princeton Police Department and Princeton Park District are teaming up Tuesday, Aug. 6, to host National Night Out at Zearing Park.
The two entities are coming together in recognition of America’s Night Out Against Crime.
The event will be from 5 to 8 p.m., with hot dogs, chips and water served to attendees.
There will be a visit from the Life Flight helicopter 5 to 5:30 p.m., a K-9 demonstration at 6:30 p.m., a drone demonstration, face painting, a blood drive, tours of emergency vehicles and Mr. Cinnamon the Balloon Twister.
Several community partners and sponsors also contributed to the event.

A house in the 800 block of North Main Street in Princeton was boarded up and no one will be allowed to return after repeated illegal activity there, Princeton Police Chief Tom Kammerer said Monday.
Three people face felony drug charges after a drug raid at the house, police said.
Robert L. Rigby, 36, of Princeton was charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver, a Class 2 felony carrying three to seven years in prison, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance (heroin), a Class 4 felony carrying one to three years.
Alfred L. Alm, 49, of Princeton was charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony carrying two to five years in prison.
Desiree J. Adams, 44, of Princeton was charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony.
All three were charged after the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team, assisted by the Princeton Police Department and the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant at the residence.
All suspects were released with a notice to appear in Bureau County Circuit Court.
Kammerer said Monday that Princeton police will work with agencies such as the Arukah Institute of Healing to help anyone who is homeless, but those individuals also must be cooperative.
