A woman was found dead after SWAT officers responded to a report of a man inside a home with a weapon in the Princeton Park neighborhood, authorities said.
Police were called to the home in the 200 block of West 92nd Street around 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, police said in a media notification. The man, 30, was arrested around 1 p.m.
The woman, 40, was dead at the scene, Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said. She had multiple gunshot wounds to her torso and face, police said.
The Cook County medical examiner\u2019s office identified her Tuesday night as Senita Harper.
Police originally had said that there might be two women involved but later corrected their information to say only one woman was found in the home.
Family members at the scene of the standoff said family members had called police to check on the woman\u2019s well-being. Family members were told the woman was shot by the man, and she may have been killed Monday night.
Charges against the man were pending, police said.
