PRINCETON, Ill. (KWQC) – The Princeton Police Department has announced that an arrest warrant has been issued for Davijon Robinson, 18, of Kewanee, Illinois in relation to the shooting that occurred in Princeton, Illinois<\/a> on July 1, 2020.
On Wednesday, July 1, Princeton Police responded to the Hillview trailer park on Hillview Drive at approximately 4:15, where it was discovered two people had been shot.
Police have identified a victim who succumbed to his gunshot injuries as Caleb Conrath. He was transported to the hospital after first responders rendered medical aid, but later passed away.
A second person was transported to the hospital. Police say they suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
Police believe Robinson is connected to the incident.
According to Princeton Police, witnesses provided a description of the \u201coffender\u201d and the vehicle he was a passenger in.
Police said witnesses described the driver and indicated which direction the vehicle was traveling. Police determined the passenger might be from Kewanee, and area agencies were notified to be on the lookout for a vehicle matching the description.
\u201cSeveral minutes later, the Kewanee Police observed a vehicle matching the description coming into their town,\u201d said Princeton Police.
According to police, officers took \u2018evasive\u2019 action and drove the suspected vehicle into a wooded area, but its occupants fled on foot. Police said further investigation determined Robinson was the passenger and that the driver was a juvenile male.
Police were unable to locate any of the vehicle\u2019s passengers a search of the area by multiple law enforcement agencies.
According to the Princeton Police Department, information on charges will be released at a later date.
Anyone with information on Robinson\u2019s location is asked to call the Princeton Police Department at 815-872-2351 or Bureau County Crime Stoppers at 800-939-6929.
Police said there is a reward of up to $1,000 for any tips that lead to the arrest of Robinson.
Other agencies that assisted in the investigation include Kewanee Police, Bureau County Sheriff\u2019s Department, Henry County Sheriff\u2019s Department, Woodhull Police Department, Bradford Police Department, the DePue Police Department, the Illinois State Police, the Princeton Fire Department, the Bureau County Coroner\u2019s Office and the Bureau County States Attorney\u2019s Office.
Chief Tom Kammerer of Princeton Police wrote, \u201cI would like to offer my condolences to the family of Caleb Conrath. Our thoughts are with them as they grieve the loss of their brother and son. We would ask that the media respect their privacy during this difficult time.There are no further details to be released at this time. We will provide further information as it becomes available.
