Moline Police investigate a head-on crash that occurred about 4:05 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of 36th Avenue near where the roadway turns into 35 Avenue Place.\u00a0
A Silvis man who died Sunday in a car crash in Moline<\/a>\u00a0has been identified as 69-year-old Gregory H. Blaser.\u00a0
The head-on crash happened at about 4:05 p.m. Sunday in the 900 block of 36th Avenue, according to a news release from the Moline Police Department.
Blaser was driving east on 36th Avenue in\u00a0a tan 1998 Chevrolet Blazer, while a woman was driving west in a\u00a0green 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The woman crossed into the eastbound lane and hit Blaser’s car head on. Both cars sustained severe damage, and both drivers had to be extracted by the Moline Fire Department.
Police believe alcohol was involved in the crash, according to the news release.
Blaser was transported to a local hospital where he died. The other driver was also taken to a local hospital and\u00a0later flown to another trauma hospital by life flight with serious, life-threatening injuries. Her name has not been released, pending further investigation.
Rock Island County Coroner Brian Gustafson said an autopsy for Blaser tentatively had been scheduled for Tuesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
