Construction crews broke ground in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shawlocal.com\/illinois-valley\/2024\/06\/04\/proposed-peru-popeyes-plan-reaches-final-step-prior-to-construction\/\" target=\"_blank\">June<\/a> 2023.<br \/>Director of Engineering and Zoning Eric Carls said final occupancy inspection is on Dec. 3.<br \/>Mayor Ken Kolowski said he is excited for the opening.<br \/>\u201cThis will be great for us locally,\u201d he said. \u201cBut also more people getting off the interstate and visiting the city of Peru.\u201d<br \/>Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen is a national chain restaurant, known for its fried chicken and buttermilk biscuits.
