Sandwich Mayor Rich Robinson retired Saturday from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office following a 25-career. The above left photo shows Robinson when he began working as a deputy in 2005. Sandwich Mayor Rich Robinson retired Saturday from his full-time job as a DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputy.
Robinson has been with the sheriff’s office for 25 years. Before that he was with the Sandwich Police Department for four years.
A native of Princeton, Ill., Robinson was appointed Sandwich Mayor in May of 2019 following the abrupt resignation of Rick Olson.
Mayor Robinson has had to juggle his full-time job with his mayoral position, and he says that being retired will make a difference.
Robinson said that citizens don’t always recognize how much work elected officials put in.
Robinson is running for mayor in the April 6, 2021 Consolidated Election. So far he has two opponents.
