WHITE CO, Ill. (WEHT) – An Illinois man has died after he was hit by a semi-truck on I-64 while trying to cross the road in White County.
State Police say, just before 4 a.m. Friday, May 14, a semi-truck was traveling in the right lane of I-64 East, near the 128.5-mile marker in Gray Township, Illinois, when the vehicle struck Dustin Gregory, 36, from Lovington, IL, on the front driver’s side quarter panel.
Family members of Gregory say he was on the interstate because his truck had broken down. Police found Gregory’s vehicle on I-64 E near the 125 mile marker.
The family says the White County Coroner’s officer reviewed dashcam video from the semi showing Gregory in the road– but trying to get out of the way. The coroner’s office believes he misjudged the timing of the on-coming truck and was clipped trying to get off the road.
Gregory was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was not injured.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT)- Every day, hundreds of thousands of people rely on water from the Ohio River for necessary tasks like drinking, cleaning, and cooking. But after a proposal by Henderson company Meuth Construction Supply to the Army Corps of Engineers, an environmental group is raising concerns for the quality of the water.
The plan would call for a dredging area complete with a fleeting space for up to 45 barges near Inland Marina, within eyesight of downtown Evansville. Valley Watch President John Blair says the proposal should concern anyone who wants to protect the Ohio River, including recreational boaters, environmentalists, and anyone who drinks the water.

GIBSON COUNTY, Ind (WEHT) – The Gibson County man accused of stabbing his mother to death and leaving her body in the woods plans to use insanity as a defense.
Attorneys for David Crowe filed the papers in Gibson Circuit Court on Wednesday. Police say Crowe stabbed Viola Clardy on the patio of her home on October 6 and then wrapped her body in sheets and pulled the body to an area behind the house. Court documents show Crowe confessed to the crime and showed investigators where to find the knife he used.
