UPDATE 11/22 AT 7PM: The eastbound lanes of I-24 have reopened. Details of the accident have not yet been reported.
The Metropolis Police Department is reporting Interstate 24 eastbound is currently closed due to a multi-vehicle accident.
The police department is asking drivers to avoid I-24.
