Combat-Do Team competes in tournament – Shaw Local

On Sept. 18, the Combat-Do Team travelled to Oak Lawn to compete in the New Breed Jiu-Jitsu Tournament.
Five members of the team competed. The team fought tremendously winning nine medals — five first-place gold medals, three silver medals and a bronze medal.
Sophia Vest of Princeton, at 67 pounds, dominated both Gi and No-Gi divisions bringing home the bling. Ashley Richardson of Princeton, at 106 pounds, wrestled her way in an explosive fashion, clobbering her opponents and winning both the Gi and No-Gi divisions. Diego Schirmer of Princeton, fighting in the Intermediate division, easily swept through the competition in the No-Gi division claiming the title and the gold medal. In the Gi division, he fought his way to second place and a silver medal. Adyn Bublitz of Princeton had some tough matches but was able to claim two silver medals in both Gi and No-Gi divisions. George Keutzer of Princeton, in his very first competition, gallantly fought to a third-place finish in the No-Gi division taking home a bronze medal.
